The other problem with both BUTT and LadioCast is that neither will allow me to stream directly from my Mac, ie without using a radio server, something that Virtual DJ does allow, but then it doesn’t send song titles even when broadcasting from its own playlists! Enter a name for your server in the Name field (this identifies it for you in the list) and select Shoutcast from the Server Type menu. BUTT has an option to “Update song name from file” but /Applications/iTunes.app doesn’t work. Start Nicecast up and from the Window menu choose Show Server the window below will appear, click the + button at the bottom of the Servers list to create a new entry for your settings. Hence, although the audio source is Audio Hijack, I can select iTunes as the title source. Nicecast has an option to select a source for titles that is different from the audio source. I have tried BUTT and LadioCast, but both have the same restriction, although I can at least set a generic title with either.
However, song titles are not displayed because Loopback emulates a line input, and Virtual DJ shows “Line 1 in” as the title. This is a simple to use, yet very powerful audio player and broadcaster designed specifically for the MAC.
I already have Virtual DJ 8 (which doesn’t work with ) but I can use the Line In function. If you plan on using your MAC computer than youll likely want to use the NiceCast broadcaster. The plugins used to work directly with Nicecast but no longer do so, although they do work in Rogue Amoeba’s Audio Hijack, and using that app with Loopback (Rogue Amoeba again) I can stream from iTunes using the plugins. Hi, I have been using Nicecast with plugins.
